SANCHO

SANCHO FILMES was created in 2009 by director and producer Michael Wahrmann, and since the premiere of his first short film, GRANDMOTHERS, at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival - Berlinale 2010, the company is dedicated to the production and development of independent and authorial film projects. In 2012, directors Bruno Risas and Diogo Hayashi joined Wahrmann in this partnership, becoming associated to Sancho Filmes.

During the past few years the company has developed and produced authorial projects directed by Sancho’s partners and associates, some of them made through co-productions with companies such as Dezenove Som e Imagens, by Sara Silveira, Argentinean Tarea Fina by Juampa Miller, EntreFilmes by Ricardo Alves Jr., and many others.

Amongst Sancho’s releases are the first feature directed by Wahrmann: AVANTI POPOLO (2012), Best Film Award at the CINEMAXXI/Rome International Film Festival; Diogo Hayashi's telefilm HANNYA (2013), screened at the TV Cultura; and the short-film THE BLIND (2014) by Bruno Risas. More recently, ELON DOESN’T BELIEVE IN THE DEATH (2016), first feature by Ricardo Alves Jr., INVISIBLE (2017), second feature by the argentinean director Pablo Giorgelli; THE BEAST (2016), short-film by Michael Wahrmann, which premiered at Cannes Directors' Fortnight in 2016; MY ONLY EARTH IS IN THE MOON, by Sergio Silva; and Diogo Hayashi's short-films SAVAGE FIRE (2017) and ONI (2017).
